San Francisco Trip - January 2004
Better exposure.
King contemplates the ramifications of Drake's explorations in 1579
Well, you see, I'm staring into the sun. Or something. Definitely need a shave and a haircut, 2 bits.
Thanks to King for capturing my eerie stare.
We rode the shuttle to Point Reyes, and begin the walk to the top of the Point.
The shuttle bus lets you off some 60 miles from the Lighthouse. It seems like a short walk at first.
It's another beautiful day as we ascend the Point.
To our right as we're walking, walking, we see the beaches littered with Elephant Seals.
Water and foam swirls fractally, chaotically around the rocks below us.
There are 310 steps that take us from the top of the Point down to the lighthouse on the ocean side. This is about 200 steps down from the top.
The black specks in the upper right corner are birds floating on the breeze.
This illustrates that the ground drops away beneath us, straight drop to the rocks and ocean.
"Almost there." Actually, going down is pretty easy.
Better exposure.
Our penultimate goal - the Lighthouse at Point Reyes.
Looking back at the stairs.
It's a lighthouse. Here is where the light once shone.
You can almost see Asia from up here.
Modern-day stand-ins for Lighthouse. Not as picturesque.
