Hills with scattered trees
The terrain is so unlike hills in my native land of Tennessee
We enter a forest.
And emerge amidst hills again.

We've arrived at our first stop - Bear Valley. Note that these are actually horses, for, as King tells me, there are no more bears in California.
King & Gwen pose in front of the Bear Valley Visitor Center.
A peek ahead at our upcoming destination - the Point Reyes Lighthouse (the bottom tip)
Puffins at the Visitor Center.

Seismograph awaits The Big One.

Over to the left, near the red house along the line of blue poles, is reputed to be the epicenter of the great 1906 earthquake. Yes, we are standing on the San Andreas Fault.
Before the earthquake, these two fences matched up together.
After the 1906 quake, the fences moved ... this ... much!
Beware stinging nettles, and beware stinging moss that can attack your eyes

We drive to Drake's Beach to find the Lighthouse Shuttle.
Drake's Beach. Yes, that is the Pacific Ocean.
Drake's Beach, named after Sir Francis Drake.
Finally, a seagull that doesn't fly away as I press the shutter.
