Excerpts from Australia Trip - April 2004
Self portrait (with King, too) outside the Opera House
That afternoon we take a tour of the city via bus, touching on the highlights
View of The Gap, entrance to Sydney Harbour
The famous Bondi Beach - it's warmer than yesterday, but not by a lot.
Nighttime in Sydney, end of our second day
More nighttime, with Harbour Bridge at right
We visit the Observatory for a night viewing through a telescope from 1876, looking at stars not seen from the USA.
Next morning, we get to MacQuaries Point early enough to catch Opera House and Harbour Bridge in good light
We wander through the Botanic Garden, Domain, and Hyde Park. Here's St. Mary's Cathedral in Sydney.
Australian Seal on Supreme Court Building
We return to Bondi Beach. Very warm today, lots of people and skin.
The sand at Bondi Beach is perfect, the water is so blue. And shark nets out at sea keep away surprises.
Queen Victoria Building in Sydney
We take a Harbour Cruise around Sydney
The Harbour is full of boats and ships
On Sunday, our last full day in Sydney, we start off by going to the Harbour Bridge
We climb to the observation point at the top of the stone "end" of the bridge. Very high up, but not as high as I'll be soon.
Looking down on the Opera House from the observation point
Looking back down at the Bridge traffic from the observation point.
From the observation point, looking up at the Bridge we'll be climbing tonight - note the group climbing on the right.
