Bobby invites us to help him move his boat to Riverbend...
Marina on Lake Chickamauga
We clamber aboard the boat
Bobby's driving, headed for the Dam
His boat is a 1958 48-foot-long ChrisCraft
Nice day on the Lake
Inside the Lock of the Chickamauga Dam
Looking downstream at the closed Lock door
Looking up above us (that Dam bridge)
Yes, this is that lock with the deteriorating concrete (built in 1931)
Helpful hint: tie your boat to the movable buoys, not to the wall.
We survive the Lock and continue downriver
Bank of the Tennessee River
Aboard are Cammi (our Atomic Films intern), Tara, Bobby, and myself.
Rolling, rolling, rolling down the river...
Looking out over the bow of the ship
The stern of the ship
It took about 15 minutes to get to the Lock, 30 minutes at the Lock, and about 40 minutes from the Dam to Downtown Chattanooga
I steered the boat for a while, learning that boats don't respond so quickly
Lookout Mountain in the distance
Approaching Downtown... oh great, now I get to learn how to avoid bridges, too...
