  • House Preparations, Part 2

Made some progress on living room last night. Tonight I finish packing in prep for the movers’ arrival Thursday morn. Here are “after” shots.

  • Preparing the new house

Began working on the house, specifically painting the living room & trying to repair the damaged plaster over the fireplace. Here are “before” shots.

  • The Packening

Packing is moving along (so to speak), albeit slowly. It’ll be a nice change to move from the 780-sq ft 1-bedroom apartment to a 1200-sq ft 2-bedroom house!

  • Seeing Red

I’m considering this color for the living room walls.

  • Successful Close!

Yay! Closing was successful! As they say, it’s the close that makes the man! The seller should be moved out by next weekend (Sept 29) and then I start moving in…

  • Atlanta road trip!

Went down to Atlanta for the day to check out furniture. Lots of choices, but I’m going to stick with my current collection until I see how things work out in the new spaces.

  • Final Walk-Through

Final walk-through of the house. There’s a video that goes along with this — I’ll try to link it up to this post.

  • The Offer, The Towers

At the end of a long day, and the end of a long week (horrifying, horrifying Tuesday!), the offer for my new home has been accepted.

  • Rough floorplan

Rough floorplan of the house, as paced off by my large feet. I’m excited about the prospect of moving in! The closing isn’t until September, though.

  • Well, I’ve survived another birthday! Thanks to everyone for their kindness & well-wishing. I’m looking forward to being a third of a century (as King would put it).

  • I decided to buy it!

This is the exterior of the house I’m buying – my first very own piece of property!

  • New house discovered!

I’ve found a cool house in Red Bank! (Near the brick yard & The Southern.) Checking into more details…

  • fixed? or broke?

Why is it that some blogs don’t make it out? Hm.

  • whimsical bidding wars

  • mall, mall, maul

Well, looks like the deluge of Mall commercials has subsided. Some 120 commercials over the last few weeks. Now talking in sentence fragments. Probably make an offer on That House (pictures soon) this week, and then begin the happy dance of financing.

  • rain day

Rainy here in Chattanooga. Stormy kind of rain. It’s been a busy week at work; among other things, I created 4 commercials for WDOD-96 “The Mountain” and tried to organize the “other mountain” of information flooding in for another project: Springtime commercials for Malls (oh, say forty-six malls, y’know). Then there’s The House. But I’ve…

  • broadband!!

Just installed a cable modem from Comcast. Actually works. Will test for speed now (grin).

  • Version 5 of pluckey’s web

For those of you keeping score: I’ve begun to make the change-over to Version 5 of pluckey’s web (as seen here – hopefully). (Version 1 dates back to 1994 – so crude I barely remember more than using the wallpaper texture from my then-apartment. Version 2 was the cloudy/blue sky interface. Version 3 was the…
